One of the most difficult times of the year for a woman is when spring is just almost over and you can see glimpses of the summer peeking around the corner. This means it’s going to be time to start wearing less clothing, and eventually it will be the dreaded swimsuit season.
Most women despise this time of year. Finding a bathing suit that fits well, looks good, and feels good can be a pretty daunting task, especially if you don’t fit into society’s box of an average body. More often than not, bathing suits will come in a few different sizes and it can be impossible to make one of them work.
This year, Target has launched a swimsuit campaign featuring models of all shapes, sizes, and races to model their suits. As well as letting the women choose which suit is best for them, they also have decided to avoid Photoshop, and promote natural beauty. The four women chosen to represent #TargetSwim are pro skateboarder Lizzie Armanto, creator and dancer Megan Batoon, TV host and model Kamie Crawford and model and body activist Denise Bidot.
Armanto says that her favorite type of swimsuit is a halter top with a bikini bottom, as well as one pieces.
“Even when I’m going to the beach to hang out, I end up being pretty active and it feels better to have a suit on that I know is going to be secure,” she explained.
Armanto also said that it’s fun to be able to express how you feel by using a swimsuit that fits well. Target’s swimwear collection comes in a variety of styles and sizes and there’s bound to be something for everyone.
Megan Batoon: As well as being a dancer and creator, Megan also posts tons of photos of food and keeps it very real online.
Her preferred bathing suits are a one-piece or a high-waisted bikini. “I feel like they are timeless, classy, and I can eat a full watermelon without the fear of looking bloated. I call that a win-win.”
Batoon explained that you bare the most skin in public in a bathing suit so it’s important to find one that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
She described the suits as being covered and complex at the same time. She also shared that the suits fit like a glove and wash away any signs of insecurities she might have felt before.
Kamie Crawford: 24-year-old Kamie is an American actress, TV host, model, and beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Teen Usa in 2010.
She explained that since there are so many different styles at Target, it’s not difficult to find a swimsuit you’ll fall in love with.
“I love bikinis with high waist bottoms because I love where it hits on my waist and makes it look smaller, while still accentuating my hips.”
“What’s your definition of a perfect body?” Kamie wrote on her Instagram. “Mine is: The body that you bring to the beach, so get out there!” She also explained that the best way to feel confident in your swimsuit is to find one that fits.
Denise Bidot: 30-year-old Denise is a plus-size model and body activist. You may recognize her from the ‘No Wrong Way’ movement.
“I feel most confident in a two-piece suit with a high waist bottom and a top that fits just right,” she explained. “When you’re a curvy girl it can be hard to find a suit that fits perfectly in all the right places, but Target has accomplished that with their swimwear.”
Bidot explained that once you find that perfect suit, it will give you that extra boost of confidence you need to make your beach or pool day even better.
Target is doing an amazing job showing women of all shapes, sizes, and colors that their bodies are beautiful and worthy of wearing a sexy swimming suit. Every woman deserves a suit that makes them feel comfortable and confident and Target might be the place to go this year.
